Rep’ your city!

So, I was born and raised here in Georgia. I love it here, I love Atlanta! I’m sure a good majority of you readers/shoppers do too. So slowly but surely my living room has become Atlanta themed, thanks to Young Blood. Let me show you what all I’ve collected and want to collect, and you can rep your city too!

The Many Faces of Jolene

If I come back in another life, I’d like to take Jolene’s place. Here are some of the many faces of Jolene, the snarkiest, but most loved and lovable, shopcat there is!

This is Jo’s “Yes, I did just eat the tissue paper, what are you gonna do about it?” face.

(photo courtesy of Jen Morris, from whose facebook page this was borrowed)

…Jo’s “No, I did not eat the mouse” face.

Exhausted after a hard day’s work.

Jolene and Megan. (Jo: “Whatchu looking at, fool?”)

Come in and see our favorite mascot, and revel in our %30 off clearance (%10 off sale) beginning tomorrow!

see you there,

Steph

Bonus photo! From this morning, I present you with Jolene’s “good morning motherf-er” face:

Home is…

…wherever I’m with you.

I hope you’re humming Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros now.

As a precursor to our Home Show’s opening tomorrow evening, I’ve made a mini list of all things cozy and bright at Young Blood this holiday season.

Gawrsh!

…It’s already the 4th of July weekend! I’m up in Cumming with the boyfriend’s family and we are so prepared for Sunday…too prepared perhaps. Don’t worry, for the ridiculous volume of fireworks we possess, they’re also good friends with the police captain who happens to be off-duty and lighting them off with us that evening.

YB loves Atlanta artist R. Land.

Feeling patriotic? One great way to support the economy is to support local businesses. A few of my favorite local Atlanta spots would have to be: Starlight Six Drive-In (just discovered this place with a girlfriend and had a great time. Word to the wise, get there a wee bit early, and when you find a space don’t park outside the lines like a douche), Papi’s Cuban Cuisine in midtown (great prices, great Cuban sandwiches and yucca fries), Stefan’s Vintage, which is like a fun little treasure hunt in L5P, and Criminal Records (obviously a music/record store, also located in L5P).

I’d have to say, though, with an admitted bias, that Young Blood is by far my favorite local Atlanta business. Oh yeah! And don’t forget one of our favorites, King of Pops!

Stay safe this weekend (don’t drink and drive), but not too safe (play with fire)!
Until next week,
Steph

Lemme Plan Your Weekend!

Everyone in Atlanta- This weekend is crammed with stuff to do! Better check everything out! This is what I’ll be doing..

Friday!

The 14th Annual Atlanta Tattoo Arts Festival put on by Sacred Heart Tattoo. Come hang out and keep all our friends at local shops company! There will be vendors, contests, seminars, and of course lots of tattooing! AND rumor is that Ink and Dagger’s Wheel of Destiny is going to be making an appearance..

Saturday!

To start Saturday off EVERYONE should check out Artlantis put on by our buds at Beep Beep Gallery. Last year sure was fun and this year I’m sure is going to knock last’s out of the park. There’s going to be local yummy food, games, live music, and tons of Atlanta’s finest in the vendor and artist sections! Plus it’s totally free! And check this out- R.Land designed their logo this year!

And to make things SUPER convenient.. Artlantis is being held pretty much right across the street from Young Blood! SO when you’re done there you can come right over and check out our opening that’s from 7-10 and the ladies can sip on some free champagne! The show is all up and lemme tell you- it looks freaking rad. I’m excited!!

Sunday!

Sunday I’ll be working for R.Land at his booth at the Rock and Roll Monster Bash.. Held at none other than the Starlight Drive In! I’ve never been to the Monster Bash before, but I hear it’s tons of fun.. Movies, Bands, Vendors, Burlesque, Hot Rods, Monsters..Count me in!

Bring it on, weekend!

New Creative Loafing Boxes

Hey people! Jen here.

So, I just got wind that Creative Loafing is revamping their entire print publication and it will be officially launched June 10th.. New designs coinciding with their website redesign! This is super super exciting to us.. as there will be new Creative Loafing boxes made by local artists we hold near and dear to our little hearts! R. Land, Lucha Rodriguez (our former intern!!), Baxter Crane, and the Paper Twins.. Just to name a few!

I’m so excited to see what these ladies and gents have up their sleeves.. They never cease to amaze me! I mean, check out this freaking awesome putt putt golf hole R.Land designed for a recent Adult Swim Block Party..

and the Paper Twins are always up to something crazy! Check out this photo from their recent opening at Mint Gallery..

As many of you Atlanta locals know, Creative Loafing had been feeling the economic pressure lately and it makes me so happy that their pushing on and providing good digs for the community! AND if you pick up the most current issue.. Our buds over at WonderRoot are featured in the main article about Atlanta’s new grassroots art movement.. and long-time Young Blooder, Joe Tsambiras did the cover art! IT LOOKS RAD!

Til next time,
