Katharine Watson’s beautiful block prints adorn more than one display at Young Blood. You can find her bold designs on greetings cards, cloth bound journals and zippered pouches too.

Each image is created by carving an original hand drawn design into linoleum with V and U shaped tools. Ink is then applied using a roller and the image is transferred after pressure is applied.

Block printing is one of the oldest techniques in textile designs, Katharine learned this craft by completing an apprenticeship at a printing factory in India. The nature of this printmaking means that no two prints are exactly the same.

If you can’t decide which of Katharine’s items to buy, may I suggest a notebook , so that when you decide you need more of her prints in your life you have a place to write your shopping list
