New Jewels

Hey guys,

I thought I was done with jewelry updates when I posted about our new Stone & Honey items on Friday, but we just received two more lovely jewelry shipments that must be shared as well.

Sparklefarm sent us a fun selection of necklaces and earrings. Below are my favorites of what we received:

Skinny Bar Earrings

Vintage Pretzel Bracelet

Coral and Brass Curve Necklace

Turquoise Dagger Necklace

One of our vendor all stars, Erica Weiner, also sent us a shipment! We have a ton of new styles, so here’s a small selection:

Lucite Hoops

“All’s Well” Brass Earrings (the other says “We May Well Be Happy Yet)-cast from vintage wax seals

Old Style Earrings. Love these.

Lady Mary Bracelet. I love the tassel and the knot in the middle; it’s all about the details.

Safety Pin Bracelet (gold fill, not your average goth-y safety pin bracelet)

Tubes N’ Tubes Necklaces

Building Blocks Necklace. Pair this with a simple black top and put your hair in a bun with a red lip for some serious impact.

Brass Vertebrae Necklace (cast from real snake vertebrae). I splurged; I confess. In my defense, I’ve been wanting this baby for two years. Wearing it with sparklefarm’s turquoise dagger necklace right now!

happy Sunday!

We like pretty things..

Hey guys,

If you haven’t been in the shop in a minute we’ve gotten in some great new vendors’ work you should check out! Rebecca, our merchandising/visual display superwoman extraordinaire has the shop looking super fresh for y’all! The two vendors I’m featuring today, Cara Taylor Ceramics and Proteales Jewelry, are both talented ladies whose work I’m totally in love with.

Cara Taylor is from Northhampton, Massachusetts, and creates beautiful porcelain pendants and ceramics. We just got in some of her hanging planters, small vases and freestanding planters, any of which would make unique gifts (for yourself or someone you know…like me?).

hanging planter

slip cast vases, “seam series”

planters with drainage hole

Look at those perfect little scalloped grooves on the planters!

Samantha, creator of Proteales jewelry, hails from Hagerstrown, Maryland, and is a self proclaimed “twenty something jewelry-making addict”. Her pieces are simple and delicate, but still manage to be totally unique.

We only have a few of these rings. The blue is from a butterfly wing–the butterfly lived a long and happy life on a butterfly farm, and this was its gift to us after it passed.

Brass bow on sterling ring

“gunslinger” pin. This would make a great pin or tie tack!

Gee-tar pin!

Little bird studs

Little bee studs.

Hope you all enjoyed, come check out the rest of the goods!

Cheers guys, hump day’s over :)

happy wednesday!

good evening ladies and gents.

this past week i got to spend a little time in the lovely amelia island!

it was a very lucky time, because

1. i got to go swimming in the ocean at night
and
2. one day, when i was trying to body surf (do. not. body. surf.), the giant-ass wave spun me around and made me choke on 5000 gallons of ocean water and i thought i was literally dying.
but i was victorious! and here to blog another day!

a cool thing about being away from the store for a couple of extra days, is when you get back everything looks different. we’re constantly getting wonderful new things and it’s refreshing to work in such a creative and dynamic space!

when i got to the store i immediately noticed our newest jewelry.

is kylie earlene grater of lawrence, kansas

and she is my earring queen.
i love so many of her things, but if i began showing the rings, (..sigh..) or the necklaces and bracelets, we’d be here all night, so i’ll focus on just the earrings for now!

take a look at these lovelies.
(make sure to come in and see her pieces! they are b-e-a-utiful!)

earring dash

antler tip earring

bone earring

engraved wood ring earring

and look at these quartz studs. they’re perfect! (and, not surprisingly, sold out)

stop by and see for yourself.

i hope everyone is having a good week!

bonjour bebe(s)!

i think we can all agree that we have a really kick ass jewelry section here at young blood and we have a new designer to add to the mix!

ashley buchanan’s work is as playful and unique as it is beautiful.
(and she’s local!)

i love the victorian silhouettes.

her craftsmanship is exceptional. these are pieces you would surely love wearing until…well, infinity!!! (and beyond!)

come see!

hope everyone’s enjoying their weekend so far!

April Showers

…bring May flowers! April showers are also currently drowning my tomato plants :(

My project and treat to myself for finishing up the semester is going to be revamping a bicycle that I rescued from an ignominious end at the dump. It needs a lot of work, and has a kind of heavy frame, but I stumbled upon it while taking out the recycling and it was love at first sight. Yellow is my favorite color by the way, I had been talking about trying to find a non-mountain bike to bring up to the city to ride to work. It even has a peeling old sticker on the frame that says “adopted”. Tell me finding it wasn’t fate!

Since I’m going to have to replace the tires, I might snag a pair of Beatrice Holiday‘s recycled tire earrings (we’ve got several styles at Young Blood) to keep with the spirit. They’re super stylish and lightweight so they won’t drag on your ears throughout the day like a lot of statement jewelry.

Keep dry all!

Stephanie
