Artlantis 2012!

Hello all!

Our friends at Beep Beep Gallery are hosting the 4th Annual Artlantis Festival June 2, 2012, 10am-7pm!
Don’t worry, if you want to participate there is still time to apply! But the deadline is fast approaching on May 18th so be hasty!

There will be live music, crafts, yummy food, and artwork of all sorts there!
They are still accepting submissions for this years event! Submissions are juried this year due to last years overwhelming number of applicants!

Artlantis is an all day summer festival that takes place on the lawn of Druid Hills Baptist Church. Unlike other Atlanta festivals, Artlantis is unique in that it exclusively showcases art and music from local talent. With ever-gaining momentum, Artlantis is well on it’s way to being a local tradition.

If you are interested in being a vendor you can find all the info you need to apply here.

Or if you just want to help out, Artlantis is also looking for volunteers for the day! You can get information about that here! There are different shifts you can work to help out with everything!

For any questions you have regarding being a vendor or a volunteer please email to artlantisfestival@gmail.com.

After you score some goods from Artlantis, have a bite at Cafe 640 and stick around for Ponce Crush that night!

I’ll have my own little booth set up with my room mate Bethany Putnam selling our vintage inspired flasks, Foxboxes! Be sure to ‘like’ us on facebook! All are one of a kind and made from old Life Magazines, atlas maps, and other old publications.

(p.s. also sold at Young Blood!)

Stop by and say hey!

Art Crush 2012

Happy hump day, all!

In addition to its overall awesomeness through its support of local artists and art events, Burnaway.org is about to give you another reason to love them. Susannah Darrow and the rest of the Burnaway team are about to introduce you to your new crushes. Valentine’s Day may have passed, but love is still in the air!

Burnaway’s Art Crush bash is taking place next Saturday, February 25, at 7 Stages Theatre from 7-10p.m., and all the local eye candy (or almost all of it anyway!) will be out in full regalia. For $40 in advance or $45 at the door, you’ll not only be able to gawk at local creatives such as Chris Appleton, Fahamu Pecou, Neda Abghari and Shara Hughes, but you also have the chance to dine, bowl, tour studios, sip wine, or maybe even touch one of them (Cooper Sanchez, why don’t I have a garden so I could bid on that consultation?!) should you place the highest bid for one of Burnaway’s crushes at the live auction.

Chris Appleton

Fahamu Pecou

Neda Abghari

Shara Hughes

Click on the Art Crush link for more information about available live auction items. In addition to all of the eye candy mentioned, your ticket buys you free cocktails during the event, a swag bag filled with goodies and souvenirs and access to bidding on our silent auction items…trust me, there are some really good ones too. Spa day and dinner nearby? A karaoke party with Susannah and two other Burnaway contributors? Swanky dinners, botanical gardens and movie tickets? I want to bid on all of these silent auction items.

If you’re crushing on a local creative, there’s a good chance they’ll be attending the Art Crush fundraiser event next weekend. You know I’m there.

See you next weekend!

xoxo

Medicina Reviewed on Burnaway

Jonathan Williams of Wrestling with Pop Culture has written his first piece for Atlanta’s non-profit, online arts magazine, Burnaway, and Young Blood’s Medicina show  was lucky to be the subject!  Read it here and let us know your thoughts!

Check us out!

Hey weekend babies,

I’ve recently received word that Alternative Apparel’s blog has posted their interview with Kelly on their site. It’s a pretty interesting Q&A, here’s the link:

Photo props to Keith Grieger, fyi.

Also, our lovely Rebecca, who comprised half of a duo performance as part of Flux’s 2010 show a couple months ago, is featured in an interview with Burnaway discussing she and Erin Palovick’s piece. Read it if you want to learn more about their vision of the performance, it’s message, and for some lovely photos courtesy of the artists.

You gals are fantastic.

Also, check out some of our merch from new vendor Rainbow Swirlz!

Here’s to the weekend!
