Young Blood offers several internships and volunteers are welcome too.
We will contact you for an interview within two weeks of your submission if you are a candidate for an internship.
We require a minimum commitment of three months. Interns report weekly for five hours and are required to attend monthly art openings. Failure to work each day of your internship will result in immediate termination of the internship.
Available internships may include the following:
Overall Clerk
Helping customers, working register, researching new product, inventory, blogging, and shop maintenance. This person will gain hands-on experience on how to manage day-to-day tasks in a business.
Merchandising
Work on creative and effective displays throughout store and in windows. This includes vignettes, lighting, seasonal and holiday themes, prop shopping, and rotating product to keep it fresh.This person will gain detailed experience on how visual merchandising works within a shop.
Photographers
Shoot events such as art openings and parties, shoot product, and general promotional photography. This person will gain experience working as a photographer for a business with varied needs.
Graphic Designer
Various designs including: art show flyers, events, posters, web site and blog updates, promotional coupons and brochures. This person will gain experience in designing for a business’s specific needs.
Writer
Write and edit press releases for shop and gallery (art shows, new designs in shop, etc), maintain and update press lists, write co-promotions with other galleries and boutiques, and general promotional material for the business. This person will gain experience by working on the multiple needs a business has for writing and communication.
Marketing/Promoting
Work on co-promotions with other businesses: contact like-minded businesses, set up meetings. Work on promotional materials including event rentals and the gallery and shop in general. Contact press, publications, websites, and event coordinators to promote our event rental space. Research events to sponsor. Plan special events for loyal customers and to generally promote the biz. This person will gain real-life experience on effective ways to bring a business new customers through marketing and promoting.
Gallery Assistant
Postage and deliveries, flyering, patch and paint walls, hang new shows, pack art work, filing, photograph art for the month and post on our Flickr, main assistant during openings. This person will learn how a gallery is run.
