Happy Tuesday All!

It’s new window time and we have ourselves a little window garden! It’s time to start squeezing the last few drops of summer; that fall breeze is pushing on in! There’s nothing like a nice plant to liven up your space and with cacti, succulents, and air plants even the most notorious plant killers can rest a little easier !

Dish gardens and hanging terrariums by Southeast Succulents, found glass terrariums by Homespun, felt pods by Shana Wood, moss letters by Restruct3, wood candle holders by KES Carvings, hanging mason jar lanterns by Midwest Finds

Canis Felis Optimus Companio

Canis Felis Optimus Comapnio

Young Blood Gallery Presents “ Canis Felis Optimus Companio” by artists

Caroline Smith (San Franciso, CA), Ryan Lincicome (West Virginia) and Kelly Teasley

and Shana Wood of (Atlanta, Ga).

Sept 10-25

Opening Saturday September 10th 7-10pm

Smith and Lincicome once long time residents of Atlanta have worked with Wood and Teasley before in various shows around Atlanta, including Young Blood’s past location. But it has been years since they’ve all worked close together on a project.

“I had been dreaming about working with all of us together again and I knew it was a long shot since we were always so busy but, I just went for it and asked everyone if they were interested in working on a show together? And to my surprise everyone agreed!” -Teasley

“I wanted to also do a cat and dog themed show and who better to do it with than long time friends and animal lovers as well.  So we went with the title to base it more on the aspect of dogs/cats being humans best friends (so translates Dog, Cat, Best, Companions)” -Teasley

9 collaborative pieces were also done,  where they mailed them all back and forth to each other.

This will be a nice reunion show for all of us and Atlanta to see Smith and Lincicome again.

Light snacks and beer and wine provided.

Sapling Press!

These new cards from Sapling Press that just came in may just be my favorite new thing in the shop! Watch out friends and check your mailboxes! Come by and check out all the others!

Two Events at YB this Weekend!!

Public Sewing Circle for "Secrets of Atlanta"

Secrets of Atlanta
Jes Schrom

Public Sewing Circle
Saturday, August 20, 2 pm
Young Blood Gallery & Boutique

Come take part in a public art event with artist Jes Schrom at Young Blood Gallery & Boutique. Over 275 vintage handkerchiefs are ready to be embroidered with secrets collected from Schrom’s Secrets of Atlanta project.

New to sewing? An embroidery master? All are welcome! All embroidery supplies are provided as well as sewing lessons for those who are new to the process.

During the first phase of this project (March-June), Schrom collected anonymous secrets through gathering boxes at a variety of Atlanta locations. Starting in September, these secrets will be shared on tri-fold paper hand towels in public restrooms, revealing to Atlantans the secret thoughts and private desires of our citizens.

Schrom’s work combines humor with heartache, intimacy with detachment, destruction with regret. These contrasting emotions, and all that lies between, reflect the complexity of our connections to others, humanity, and most importantly, our self.
